FAQs:
What kind of services do you offer?
We offer marriage counseling as well as individual counseling.
The heart of The Marriage Workshop is for our clients to experience mental, emotional, and relational health.
How frequently can we expect to do therapy sessions?
It is recommended the couples begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Sessions for individual counseling are determined in the initial session. They can be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly based on the clients needs.
Can Marriage Counseling Help if Only one Spouse Wants to attend?
Yes, marriage counseling can still help if only one spouse wants to attend. It can be helpful for two reasons:
We always say, “Marriage work is self work.” Meaning part of growing in your marriage means growing as an individual. Coming alone means you get a head start on that process. It might surprise you how growing individually can have an impact on your marriage.
Your marriage being stuck does not mean you have to stay stuck. Your personal growth should not be dependent on your spouse. If your marriage is in distress it can be overwhelming and stressful. Attending counseling will help you process that distress and keep from continuing to experience the troubling symptoms of a distressed marriage.
How long does Marriage Counseling Take?
This can vary depending on the couple. I tell couples to anticipate to be in therapy for a year. The consistency of sessions will likely go down as therapy progresses. Factors that determine the length of therapy include, length of distress in the marriage, betrayals or injuries in the marriage, degree of conflict the couple has experienced.
Does The Marriage Workshop accept insurance?
Sessions with The Marriage Workshop are self-pay. Many of our clients find that private pay allows for more flexibility and privacy in their care. If you’d like, we can provide a receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
