Hi, I’m Lyssa Bivens.
When you start therapy as a couple or an individual it is natural to be worried whether the therapist you see will be able to provide a component and safe environment for the work you need to do emotionally or relationally.
I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging space for clients. I make sure my clients have a good understanding of the path forward and that I am doing everything I can to provide the care they need.
My Approach
Modalities
In my work with clients I pull from modalities of therapy including:
EMDR, Gottman, EFT, and approaches grounded in neurobiology and attachment.
My approach to counseling is integrative, with an emphasis on somatic and holistic care. I am trained in the Gottman Method, an evidence-based modality for working with couples. I also utilize EMDR, a modality that can help individuals move forward after trauma.
Experience
I received a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri State University. I have experience working with individuals and couples seeking counseling for a number of reasons such as processing past trauma, relationship difficulties, and managing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
